In today’s online edition (Saturday’s print edition) the Wall Street Journal published an article (https://www.wsj.com/articles/can-accounting-tool-detect-election-fraud-11607077800?mod=searchresults_pos1&page=1) on the validity of using Benford’s Law as tool to detect election fraud. The article quotes me, Steven Miller, Ted Hill, Walter Mebane, and Peter Ordeshook. The article essentially concludes that the first-digit test of Benford’s Law is not a valid tool to detect election fraud given our use of almost equal-sized voting precincts.
